BGCT Executive Board prepares for possible influx of out-of-state churches
BELTON, Texas (BP) – The Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board has affirmed the creation of a study group concerning out-of-state churches that want to affiliate with the BGCT’s GC2 movement.
Julio Guarneri elected next BGCT executive director
DALLAS (BP) – Julio Guarneri, lead pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas, was elected to serve as the next executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) on Tuesday (Sept. 19), during a regularly scheduled meeting of the BGCT executive board. The election follows the Executive Director Search Committee’s announcement of his candidacy on Sept. 3.
Texas Baptists’ Family Gathering celebrates unity in diversity

Texas Baptists partner with Send Relief to launch ministry center in Laredo
LAREDO, Texas (BP) -- A new ministry center will open in Laredo, Texas, as part of a partnership between Texas Baptists River Ministry and Send Relief. The center will serve Laredo and the wider Rio Grande Valley area by connecting churches to ministry opportunities on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Texas Baptists urged to proclaim Christ, care for vulnerable
WACO, Texas (BP) -- More than 2,000 participants in person and online witnessed the launch of Faith Fosters Texas at the 2019 Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) annual meeting Nov. 17-19. The new initiative, which aims to alleviate the child welfare crisis in Texas by mobilizing churches to care for vulnerable children and families, was formally launched during the Monday evening session of the 134th annual gathering held in Waco.
