Chip Luter embraces opportunity in Tampa

LAURENS, S.C. (BP) -- Fred "Chip" Luter III has accepted a call as a campus pastor in Tampa, moving from New Orleans where he has served as youth minister under his father, former SBC President Fred Luter. Chip Luter will become pastor of the Sulphur Springs campus of Idlewild Baptist Church beginning May 1.

MIAMI (BP)--Jeanty Danmervil got a real NFL experience when Super Bowl XLI came to Miami.
      Danmervil worked at one of the National Football League’s most popular Super Bowl week activities: the “NFL Experience.” In a theme park-like setting, the NFL Experience allows children to grandparents to try their hand at passing, running, blocking and other football skills. The event also features various displays, a card show and a chance to meet NFL players.

      Danmervil, youth minister at Miami’s Immanuel Baptist Church, got involved when a pastor gave him a copy of an e-mail from Tim Knopps, who was helping place managers with the NFL Experience. Knopps, who has been involved with Super Bowl initiatives for 10 years, works closely with the local organizing committees and helps churches interface with the yearly event.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BP)--While growing up, Will Graham says he didn’t feel the pressure of being the grandson of Billy Graham.
      His father, Franklin Graham, tried to make sure there was no pressure on him to enter the ministry. “Dad wanted to make sure that I wasn’t pressured and was doing it for the right reasons. He wanted to know that the Lord was leading me and not because of six letters,” Will said, referring to the famous Graham name.

GASTONIA, N.C. (BP)--Thunder, lightning and pouring rains held off as Will Graham, 31, grandson of Billy Graham, finished his first U.S. evangelistic campaign Oct. 11 in western North Carolina.
      During the three-day Greater Gaston Celebration, comparisons with Will’s famous grandfather began to pop up everywhere -- in their voice and look and their clear call to repentance from sin.

GASTONIA, N.C. (BP)--Nearly 60 years after his grandfather held his first citywide crusade in Charlotte, William (Will) Franklin Graham IV held his first U.S. crusade just a few miles to the west in Gastonia, N.C.
