LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP) – This year two local governments in Kentucky have passed legislation causing much concern for pastors and Christian counselors. These ordinances threaten the free speech and religious freedoms of those guided by their religious convictions.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) -- Coy Webb, longtime director of Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief, has been selected to take the helm of Send Relief's new crisis response arm.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (BP) -- A Kentucky Baptist pastor is speaking out about ways he believes churches have been singled out during the coronavirus pandemic. Hershael York, the pastor of Buck Run Baptist Church in Frankfort, Ky., believes churches have been "unfairly singled out for both negative examples and also for enforcement of rules that were not being applied to other institutions."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP) -- The world is on the move. Millions of people live far from their homes but are able to stay connected with their family through the use of technology. Because of this, leaders from a number of Southern Baptist entities, state conventions, local associations and churches believe the time is right for a strategic plan to reach these people on the move. "There's a growing desire among Southern Baptist Convention entities to communicate more and collaborate better when it comes to serving displaced people," said Trent DeLoach, Send Relief coordinator and pastor at Clarkston International Bible Church in Clarkston, Ga.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP) -- Todd Gray has been named the new executive director-treasurer of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Gray, a Kentucky native, was confirmed by the Mission Board of the Kentucky Baptist Convention to the position in a special called meeting on Thursday (July 25) in Louisville. Gray called the appointment a great honor. "While I did not aspire to the position, I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to serve."

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (BP) -- For the past six years, White Sulphur Baptist Church has hosted a unique event that brings youth, police and military personnel together for a night of fun -- and much more. The Georgetown, Ky., church has dubbed the event "Mission Impossible." On Oct. 12, the church presented a laser tag style game at night where youth competed against police and military personnel -- who are known during the evening as "commandos." It's spread out across a brush filled, eight-acre field cut with paths that lead to a home base. Watchtowers are scattered across the field so commandos can sweep spotlights looking for the youth and then pass information to the commandos on the ground. This year a helicopter circled the field with a spotlight assisting the commandos.
