Tight security
Security was tight for the Dove Awards as crowds stood in lines outside, waiting to be searched before entering the auditorium. Travis Thomas, 12, was no exception.
Solo career
Toby McKeehan, also known as TobyMac, won a Dove for Short Form Video for “Irene,” a song he wrote about a real life story. McKeehan, formerly with DC Talk, said he likes to engage social and political issues in his work.
New artists
Hailing from San Diego, Souljahz are three siblings ranging in age from 18 to 23. The group was nominated for three Dove Awards including New Artist of the Year.
