Jesús, el Centro de Todo

ANAHEIM, Calif.

FIRST-PERSON: Jesus at the Center of it All

ANAHEIM, Calif. (BP) – Next week the Southern Baptist Convention will gather for our 164th annual meeting. It is always a special time when our convention comes together each June for this two-day family meeting. This is our first annual gathering in California in more than 40 years, and I am deeply grateful for the hard work and hospitality of so many of our fellow Baptists out here on the West Coast to make this meeting possible.

In the hours after my election as SBC president, there certainly were a great number of things to do and new places to be. The Lord allowed me moments in the hallways to meet and greet Southern Baptists at their best. There were those who heartily congratulated me. Yet the ones who caught my attention were many, almost too many to count, who reached out their hand to shake mine and said a very similar thing: “Ed, I did not vote for you, but I love you in Christ and I promise to pray for you.”

FIRST-PERSON: The Great Commission coin

MOBILE, Ala. (BP)--In difficult economic times our minds naturally become focused on the top priority of the bottom line.

What if?

MOBILE, Ala. (BP)--Historians sometimes use a mental tool called a counterfactual, best understood by the simple question "What if?"

FIRST-PERSON: The truth about cohabitation

SARALAND, Ala. (BP)--The number of unmarried couples living together in America increased tenfold from 1960 to 2000. The U.S. Census estimates that about 10 million people are living with someone of the opposite sex. That totals about 8 percent of U.S. coupled households. Most unmarried partners who live together are between 25 and 34 years of age.
