TULSA, Okla. (BP) -- A church that started with no home now offers a home and hope to people of all backgrounds, economic statuses and life situations. Hope Church in Tulsa, Okla., is just off of 49th Street in Tulsa not far from downtown, where Hope's pastor, Earl Krumsiek, first started worshiping with the city's homeless. "We always say here at Hope, we love people where they are, we don't leave them where they are," Krumsiek said.

EDMOND, Okla. (BP) -- Laughter and pleasant aromas fill Karla Boone's kitchen as she gathers with some of her favorite friends to cook delicious meals together. Boone and her husband Steve have served in several special needs programs across Oklahoma, but she wanted to make a difference in someone's life rather than just volunteering for a few hours, which she still does and enjoys. So Boone came up with the idea to host a cooking class for those with special needs at her home in Edmond, where she and her husband are members of Oakdale Baptist Church.

BETHANY, Okla. (BP) -- It started with a magazine article that Eileen Atkins read about church members making mats out of plastic bags and giving them to the homeless. It sounded like something the women in her church would enjoy doing, so Atkins told them about it, thinking someone else would take charge.
