Created by SEBTS students, the society's goal is to provide a gathering place for ideas, networking, learning and leadership development among women at Southeastern who desire to be part of theological scholarship.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (BP) -- During his presidential address at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary fall commencement ceremony, Danny Akin exhorted graduates, faculty and guests to proclaim the Gospel because of who they are in Christ. Speaking Dec. 9 from 2 Corinthians 5:17, which he called a foundational "life verse," Akin, SEBTS president, explained that becoming a new creation in Christ means "you are radically altered … once you were lost, now you're found. Once you were spiritually dead, now you are spiritually alive."

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (BP) -- Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary's trustees, along with individuals who support the seminary through the Southeastern Society, held their biannual meetings Oct. 9-11 at the Wake Forest, N.C., campus, receiving updates about the seminary, worshipping together in chapel and fellowshipping with faculty and students. Danny Akin, in his presidential address to each group, reported that Southeastern Seminary is in its seventh year of record enrollment with 3,550 total students. The current fall semester is the second largest spring enrollment in SEBTS history.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (BP) -- Evangelism and disciple-making training was put into immediate practice during a three-day GO Engage conference at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The conference's interactive training sessions and field practicum, capped at 100 participants at the campus in Wake Forest, N.C., was attended by seminary students, members of local churches and from as far away as Delaware and the Czech Republic.

ST.LOUIS (BP) -- The lack of evangelism among Southern Baptists is at its heart a discipleship issue according to panelists at the Replicate Ministries breakfast. "I think the challenge we have in our convention and our churches is that we have seen discipleship and evangelism as pitted against each other," said Robby Gallaty, president of Replicate Ministries, during the June 14 gathering at the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting in St. Louis.
