DUCK LAKE, Saskatchewan (BP)--After a weeklong mission trip to Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, Karla Johnson wondered aloud what would happen to the kids who had accepted Christ.

TINIAN, N.M. (BP)--Life on the Navajo reservation in Tinian, N.M., isn't easy. Neighbors are spread far apart, alcoholism and broken homes are common and jobs are hard to come by, but shared culture and tight family bonds keep Native Americans on the reservation despite the difficulty.

WEST PAWLET, Vt. (BP)--They say the night is always darkest just before dawn. It certainly was a dark night for Tad and Annice Perry and others of the small remnant at the United Church of West Pawlet, Vt., when they made the difficult decision to close the doors.       "I just hated to see the church close," Annice Perry said. "It was very hard to deal with emotionally. I just wanted to keep it going somehow, but we didn't see any hope, so we just started praying about it."       Nearly 1,000 miles away in Rutherfordton, N.C., dawn was breaking in the heart of a young pastor named Lyandon Warren. "It wasn't an ah-ha moment," he said. "God developed the desire in my heart to plant a church in West Pawlet over time."       Members from Piney Isle Baptist Church, where Warren was serving as an associate pastor, had been to West Pawlet on a couple of mission trips.       "When we came back the second year, we could really see that God was at work in the town," Warren said. "There was more enthusiasm about Vacation Bible School. People were asking questions, they were very curious about all the activity going on at the church."

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (BP)--Mike McQuitty has almost always seen himself as a missionary. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 6 and in high school realized he loved ministry work and especially missions.       "In college I served as a summer missionary in Colorado and Russia. And while in seminary at Southwestern, I served in youth ministry and then collegiate work for three years at University Baptist Church in Fort Worth," McQuitty said. "Through these experiences, my heart for missions and college students continued to grow."       As McQuitty considered ministry career options, he was drawn to campus ministry because he sees it as missions work.       "The college years are a time when young people are making the decisions that will shape the rest of their lives, yet often it is a time when faith is put on a shelf," he said.
