BROOKLYN, N.Y. (BP) -- The around-the-clock work of a pastor often goes unnoticed. In conjunction with Pastor Appreciation Month last year, the North American Mission Board invited churches and individuals to take to social media and share what they appreciate about their pastor. From postings on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #LiftMyPastor, Nathan Tubbs, pastor of Cornerstone Church of Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, N.Y., was chosen to host a free concert by recording artists Shane and Shane.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (BP) -- Army veteran Tom Cawood set out on Aug. 24 to ride his bike from San Diego, Calif., to St. Augustine, Fla. And along the way, he and his wife Pat helped raise awareness for missions and the North American Mission Board. At age 81, when most of his contemporaries are slowing down, Cawood gives the impression of gaining speed. His life motto is, "Life is like water skiing, if you slow down, you go down."
