2-day student conference to precede SBC meeting


NEW ORLEANS (BP)–Students attending the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting this summer will have the opportunity to participate in the SBC Student Conference 2001 June 10-11 at the Louisiana Superdome. The conference is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and the Louisiana Baptist Convention.

The event will feature youth speaker Voddie Baucham of Houston. Musical guests include worship leader Dave Hunt and recording artist Sara Beth. Small-group sessions will include seminars such as “Reaching Your School” and “Defining Your Mission.”

The conference begins Sunday evening, June 10, with a worship rally from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sessions on Monday will run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The conference will be in rooms 13-17, Southwest Quad, on the Loge Level of the Louisiana Superdome.

There will also be an optional presentation of “Drawing to the Rock” — a chalk-drawing, music and drama performance by artist Kerry Jackson. It will be presented at 7:30 p.m. June 11 in room 14.

Cost of the conference is $20 per person for pre-registration (postmarked by May 5) and $25 thereafter. The registration fee includes lunch and a snack on Monday, a conference notebook and other materials.
