NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Belmont’s three first half goals were matched by Birmingham-Southern in the second half to force overtime, during which the Bruins (2-8-1) and the Panthers (3-8-1) battled to a 3-3 draw on Wednesday evening.

Belmont grabbed the early lead as senior Carlos Macioch scored his first goal of the 2001 campaign in the 26th minute. Sanel Filipovic laid a ball off to Macioch about 22 yards out which he abruptly fired past BSC goalkeeper Ryan Simms.

The Bruins would score a pair of goals in a 1:07 span before intermission. Macioch added a second goal after tracking down a long pass from Kalid Puentes and finding the back of the net. Following up quickly, Jon Mareco put the Bruins up 3-0 as he cleaned up the trash on a deflected Ryan Troglen shot.
