NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–A new discount plan for paid ministerial staff who are customers of the national chain of Baptist Book Stores and Lifeway Christian Stores becomes effective Aug. 1.
The announcement, made at the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting, was part of the Baptist Sunday School Board’s report to SBC messengers June 17 in Dallas.
Mark Scott, vice president of the board’s retail group, said, “We want to show our appreciation for our customers who are pastors and ministers who are committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in our local communities. As part of our continuing efforts to assist your personal ministry, we are introducing our Minister’s Discount.”
All paid ministerial staff persons are eligible to join the Minister’s Discount Plan, which offers members 20 percent off single copies of a select group of products, such as regularly priced books, Bibles and printed music for personal use.
“It is our hope that this discount will help church staff persons acquire the books needed to support sermon preparation, personal study and outreach efforts,” Scott said. “As our chain of bookstores expands throughout the country, we are proud to serve as a partner to ministers in sharing God’s love with our communities.”
Paid ministerial staff persons should visit their local store any time beginning Aug. 1, request an application for the minister’s discount to complete and return to the store. Each member will receive a membership card to present with every purchase.
The Minister’s Discount Plan is offered only in Baptist Book Stores and Lifeway Christian Stores, but not through the 1-800 Customer Service Center. Certain limitations apply to the discount plan. Local book store personnel will provide details and answer questions for customers.
The 67-store chain of Baptist Book Stores and Lifeway Christian Stores is owned and operated by the Baptist Sunday School Board.
