6 new B&H books released in June

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–A book on faith and family by Richard Land and one on preaching by John Bisagno are among six general nonfiction books being released by Broadman & Holman Publishers in June. B&H is the trade publishing division of LifeWay Christian Resources.

“For Faith and Family: Changing America by Strengthening the Family,” by Land, president of the SBC Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, and John Perry, a freelance writer, offers help for Christian families in overcoming the temptations of culture. Land writes that the way to change America is from the inside out — changing oneself, one’s family, the church, then the country.

“Principle Preaching: How to Create and Deliver Purpose-Driven Sermons for Life Application” by John Bisagno, retired pastor of First Baptist Church in Houston, focuses on the importance of creating principle-based sermons.

The other new B&H books are:

— “Milestones: 50 Events of the 20th Century that Shaped Evangelicals in America” by Steve Rabey and Monte Unger. The book chronicles the 20th century’s mark upon American Christians. The events and people highlighted include prohibition, the Scopes Trial, the Holocaust, Billy Graham, the NIV Bible, Francis Shaeffer, Martin Luther King, Promise Keepers, WWJD and Y2K.

— “Words to Die For: Verses That Shaped the Lives of 30 People Who Changed the World” by Lawrence Kimbrough, an editor for B&H. Kimbrough writes about great Christians, living and dead, as seen through the Bible verses that transformed their lives.

— “Experiencing God Together” by Henry Blackaby and his son, Melvin Blackaby. The book examines the corporate nature of salvation and how a community of believers can accomplish God’s purposes in the world.

— “A Season for Justice: Defending the Rights of the Christian Home, Church and School” by David French. Stories, case studies and personal accounts are relayed about how Christians fight battles in church, school and the workplace to preserve the basic right to share the gospel and worship as they choose.
