ADVISORY: Supreme Court hears arguments over latest recount in Florida

WASHINGTON (BP)–The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Dec. 11 in Bush v. Gore, a case that may determine the country’s next president.

The high court agreed to review the Florida Supreme Court’s Dec. 8 decision calling for a manual recount of ballots not registering as votes for president. In granting review of the appeal, the justices ordered a halt Dec. 9 to the recount.

Baptist Press will provide coverage of the U.S. Supreme Court decision when it is announced as well as other legal and political developments in determining whether Democrat Al Gore or Republican George W. Bush will be the next president.
