African American Fellowship schedules worship, luncheon


ATLANTA (BP)–The African American Fellowship of the Southern Baptist Convention will meet for worship at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Atlanta’s Sandtown Baptist Church.
Elroy Barber, pastor of West Side Baptist Church, Hollywood, Fla., and president of the Florida Baptist Convention, will be the featured speaker. Barber also is the African American Fellowship’s second vice president.
Joseph Lyles, pastor of Fort Foote Baptist Church, Fort Washington, Md., and president of the fellowship, will speak at the fellowship’s noon luncheon on Monday, June 15, in Room 264-265W of the Georgia World Congress Center.
Also during the luncheon, Margaret Perkins will be honored for her service as black church consultant with Woman’s Missionary Union from 1978-98. In that role, she worked with African American churches in the Southern Baptist Convention and with other African American Baptist women’s organizations. A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., she and her husband, William, and daughter, Apryl, live in Atlanta.
The fellowship’s business meeting will be at 10 a.m. June 14.
