[1]NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–The national chain of Baptist Book Stores has increased to 74 locations with the Feb. 2 acquisition of Christian Book Stores, Inc., in Toledo, Ohio.
For now, the name of the stores will remain Christian Books Stores, Inc., and current personnel will have the opportunity to continue employment at the stores. Matt Varnell, a Michigan native with extensive management experience in the Christian retailing industry, including stores located in Illinois and Indiana, has been named manager and will lead operations at both sites.
“There will be no disruption of service for customers,” said Mark Scott, general manager for the SSB retail chain. “Churches and consumers alike can expect a broader product line, enhanced services, as well as
physical improvements to the store in the near future.”
The main store, located at 4121 Talmadge Road, has for each of the last four years, been listed in the “Top 100 Stores” by one of the industry’s leading magazines, Christian Retailing. The branch site is located in southwest Toledo at 1855 South Reynolds Road.
