NASHVILLE (BP) — This weekly Bible study appears in Baptist Press in a partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through its Leadership and Adult Publishing team, LifeWay publishes Sunday School curricula and additional resources for all age groups.
This week’s Bible study is adapted from the YOU curriculum.
Bible Passages: Matthew 16:13-19
Discussion Questions: Is Jesus the only way to God? What modern city would be the equivalent of a Caeserea Philippi, a place where false gods are located? How would you answer this question: “Who is Jesus?”
Food for Thought:
When you locate a starting point and a destination on a road map, you’ll see a variety of routes you can take between the two. Some are major highways, known for their speed and efficiency. Others are scenic back roads with breathtaking views and quaint, small towns.
Some people approach religion as they do a road map, choosing their own route to travel, based on their whims and preferences. Unlike a map, however, there is only one way to God. This week’s lesson will focus on the fact that Jesus is the only way to approach God.
We live in a pluralistic society, which means that people often add other gods or forms of worship to the one true God. Our pluralistic society thinks other religions are OK or acceptable. They are not! The Bible teaches exclusivism. There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ.
Intentionally focused on urban and multicultural believers, YOU is biblically based with culturally relevant and affirming lessons to help people connect, grow, serve, and ultimately be engaged in impacting the world for Christ. This flexible, non-dated all-in-one quarterly resource offers weekly Bible study for leaders and learners, devotionals, and teaching plans, as well as articles on hot topics and missions.
