BP Newsfeed service to provide church websites with instant news

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Churches that maintain Internet websites will now have access to breaking news headlines from Baptist Press, the national news service of the Southern Baptist Convention, according to Will Hall, vice president for convention news and BP executive editor.

“You can put breaking news headlines right on your church home page without any maintenance,” Hall said. “And best of all — it’s a free service to our churches.”

Hall said the Baptist Press Newsfeed is updated daily to coincide with the daily update on the Baptist Press website.

“When your visitors click on a headline, a new browser window will pop up displaying the story they selected,” Hall said. “And when they close that window, they will be right back on your website.”

Hall said the new feature from Baptist Press will give Southern Baptists across the country access to all Baptist Press news and feature stories.

“I believe this will increase the depth of church website content by adding thorough, well-written Christian news direct from Baptist Press,” Hall said. “And this also will give readers a chance to read all the news from our service.”

In addition, churches can also download BP Sports Newsfeed and receive daily sports scores, stories and the latest sports news from 56 Baptist colleges and universities.

“This is a fun site especially if you have a sports-minded church or youth group,” said Todd Starnes, assistant editor of Baptist Press and coordinator of BP Sports. “Your students also will have access to links that will take them to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action as well as other Christian sports agencies.”

Webmasters may download these Newsfeed features at www.bpnews.net [3] for BPNews headlines and www.bpsports.net [4] for BPSports headlines.
