‘BP on Assignment’ to focus on ‘Wedgwood’s Amazing Grace’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Baptist Press begins today a series of “BP on Assignment” news and features stories and photos, titled “Wedgwood’s Amazing Grace,” to mark the one-year anniversary of the shootings at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, which left seven people dead and seven wounded.

The project will include:

— an eight-page Wedgwood’s Amazing Grace supplement to SBC Life, journal of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, with reporting by Baptist Press assistant editor Todd Starnes and photography by Jim Veneman, director of visual communications at Union University, Jackson, Tenn., who visited Wedgwood in mid-August. The SBC Life October edition will be mailed during the latter part of September.

— a daily story in Baptist Press, from Sept. 7 through Sept. 15, the date of the Wedgwood tragedy, the worst shooting melee in a church in U.S. history. Among the writers involved in the daily stories are Debbie Moore of Charleston, W.Va., and Cory J. Hailey and Adam Myrick, who write for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth.

— a website compiling all the Wedgwood stories in the SBC Life supplement and in Baptist Press, along with the photography by Veneman and Bryan Murley, a photographer at Southwestern Seminary.

Individual copies of the SBC Life edition with Wedgwood’s Amazing Grace, at $1 each or 75 cents each for 10 or more, may be requested by emailing [email protected]. The Wedgwood website will be accessible through www.sbcbaptistpress.org.
