BSSB clarifies ad on VBS T-shirt offer

[1]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–The plan was simple.

As a perk for congregations placing early orders for their 1997 Vacation Bible School materials, the Baptist Sunday School Board would offer 10 free T-shirts to the first 1,000 churches placing an order of $200 or more by Feb. 28.

However, an advertisement placed in the February-March 1997 issue of SBC LIFE failed to state that the free VBS T-shirt offer was limited to the first 1,000 churches responding, leaving the board vulnerable to a “stampede” of churches clamoring for T-shirts.

“The incentive of free VBS T-shirts is a nice benefit to churches who place their VBS order early, and we are glad to provide this perk,” said Mark King, director of marketing and sales for the BSSB’s retail group. “We apologize for any inconvenience this omission (from the
advertisement) may have caused.”

“The Wild and Wonderful Good News Stampede!” is the theme for the board’s ’97 VBS materials. The current T-shirt offer is good on VBS orders placed in any of the 63 Baptist Book Stores and Lifeway Christian Stores, as well as through the board’s toll-free order lines.
