[1]ATLANTA (BP)–Novelist Catherine Palmer received the top award in the romance fiction category for “A Touch of Betrayal” during the second annual Christy Awards banquet held in conjunction with the Christian Booksellers Association’s annual meeting.
The Christy Awards recognize Christian novels of exceptional quality and are named in honor of Christian fiction pioneer Catherine Marshall, author of the novel “Christy.”
Twenty-three finalists were chosen from 110 entries in seven categories.
Palmer and her husband, Tim, have two sons and are members of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo.
The author of 28 published novels and novellas, Palmer is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, and Baylor University, Waco, Texas. Her publisher is Tyndale House.
Her parents are retired International Mission Board missionaries Harold and Betty Cummins of Springfield, Mo.

— North American historical fiction: “Edge of Honor” by Gilbert Morris and “Reaping the Whirlwind” by Rosey Dow (tie).
— New novel: “Passing by Samaria” by Sharon Ewell Foster.
The July 6 banquet was held in Atlanta.
