Chris Cupples named editor of The Nevada Baptist newsjournal

RENO, Nev. (BP)–Chris Cupples has been named editor of The Nevada Baptist newsjournal.

Cupples, 31, has served as the Nevada Baptist Convention’s director of ministry resources since April 1999 and also will continue in that role.

Cupples was pastor of Third Baptist Church, Granite City, Ill., from 1996-99; pastor of First Baptist Church, Simms, Texas, and director of Baptist Student Ministry at Texarkana Community College, 1993-96; and minister to youth, Myrtle Springs Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas, 1991-93.

He spent his high school years in Indianapolis and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1991, subsequently earning a master of divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996. He was ordained to the ministry at Pinson Park Baptist Church, Texarkana, Ark., in 1990.

He is the son of Tommy Cupples, executive director of the Metro East Baptist Association, Fairview Heights, Ill., in the St. Louis, Mo., area.

Cupples and his wife, Amy, have a son, Braden, 5, and daughter, Brendi, 3.
