SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. (BP) — Paul Harris, president of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists, announced today (July 25) that Cledith Campbell will serve as interim executive director-treasurer effective Aug. 1 until the search for a permanent executive director-treasurer is completed.

Campbell, pastor of Altizer Baptist Church in Huntington for the past 46 years, will carry out the duties previously performed by Bill Henard, who is transitioning from WVSBC executive director-treasurer [2] to pastor of First Baptist Church in Athens, Tenn., effective Aug. 1. Henard has led the convention since October 2015.

Campbell was selected as interim executive director by the administrative committee of the convention’s Executive Board.

He has served in various positions in the state convention, Greater Huntington Baptist Association and as a trustee of the SBC’s former Christian Life Commission, now the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.

Harris, pastor of Abundant Hope Baptist Church in Barboursville, said the convention will provide more details about the search committee, executive director-treasurer position and nationwide search in the coming weeks.

Until more information is posted, those interested in submitting their resume for consideration can do so until Sept. 30 by mail to:
