[1]BILLINGS, Mont. (BP)–Clyde Billingsley has announced his retirement as executive director of the Montana Southern Baptist Fellowship, effective Dec. 31, with plans to return to full-time evangelism.
Billingsley, 60, has led the Montana fellowship since 1994, previously serving in the same capacity with the Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention from 1989-94.
He also has been director of evangelism for the Florida Baptist Convention, 1985-89; director of the evangelism division of the Northwest Baptist Convention, 1981-85; and director of the missions division/stewardship/Brotherhood with the former Northern Plains Baptist Convention, 1977-81.
He was in vocational evangelism from the mid-1960s through the early 1970s.
Billingsley announced his retirement during the mid-May meeting of the Montana fellowship’s executive committee.
A five-member search committee was named, to be chaired by Daniel Lambert, the fellowship’s president and pastor of Easthaven Baptist Church, Kalispell, Mont.
[2]Also in his ministry, Billingsley has pastored churches in Knoxville, Tenn.; Lajunta, Texas; and Carlsbad, N.M.
A native of Knoxville, Billingsley is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He was ordained to the ministry at Churchwell Avenue Baptist Church, Knoxville, in 1959.
He and his wife, Judy, have two grown children.
