[1]NASHVILLE (BP) – Cooperative Program giving was 5.69 percent below the budget goal in December, while designated giving outpaced the same number from the previous year. Southern Baptists gave just over $14.3 million through CP during the third month of the fiscal year. The budget target was $15.2 million.
Year-to-date CP receipts are below budget by 1.37 percent at the end of the first fiscal quarter. Designated receipts of $4.4 million in December were 4.46 percent above December 2023. Year-to-date designated giving is slightly less than last year’s total at this point.
December National Cooperative Program giving:
- Monthly budgeted amount: $15,200,000.00
- December 2024 giving: $14,334,858.87
- Above/below budget: $865,141.13 (5.69 percent) below budget
Total National Cooperative Program giving:
- Year to date budgeted amount: $45,000,000
- Year to date giving: $44,384,971.38
- Above/under budget: $615,028.62 (1.37 percent) below budget
Designated giving:
- December giving: $4,596,453.00
- Year to date giving: $12,482,086.73
- Previous year to date total: $12,700,536.46
- Above/below previous year: $218,449.73 (1.72 percent) below the previous year
The Convention-adopted budget for 2024-2025 is $190,250,000 and includes a $250,000 special priority allocation for the SBC Vision 2025 initiative.
Cooperative Program funds are then disbursed as follows:
- 50.41 percent to international missions through the International Mission Board
- 22.79 percent to North American missions through the North American Mission Board
- 22.16 percent to theological education through the six SBC seminaries and the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives
- 2.99 percent to the SBC operating budget
- 1.65 percent to the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
If national CP gifts exceed the budget projection at the end of the fiscal year, the balance of the overage is distributed according to the percentages approved for budgetary distribution. The SBC Executive Committee distributes all CP and designated gifts it receives on a weekly basis to the SBC ministry entities.
CP allocation budget gifts received by the Executive Committee are reported monthly to the executives of the entities of the convention, to the state convention offices, to the state Baptist papers and are posted online at sbc.net/cp.
