[1]NASHVILLE (BP) – Cooperative Program giving in May was above budget for the first time since November, while year-to-date giving is still slightly below budget targets.
Southern Baptists gave nearly $16.2 million in undesignated receipts last month, bringing the year-to-date total to $126,667,880.91 – 2.75 percent below the year-to-date budget of $130,250,000. Designated receipts for May were quite a bit below (47.39 percent) the same number from May 2024.
May National Cooperative Program giving:
- Monthly budgeted amount: $16,000,000.00
- May 2025 giving: $16,193,565.96
- Above/below budget: $193,565.96 (1.21 percent) above budget
Total National Cooperative Program giving:
- Year-to-date budgeted amount: $130,250,000.00
- Year to date giving: $126,667,880.91
- Above/under budget: $3,582,119.09 (2.75 percent) below budget
Designated giving:
- May giving: $15,913,023.66
- Year to date giving: $146,754,073.93
- Previous year to date total: $164,681,319.56
- Above/below previous year: $17,927,245.63 (10.89 percent) below previous year
The Convention-adopted budget for 2024-2025 is $190,250,000 and includes a $250,000 special priority allocation for the SBC Vision 2025 initiative.
Cooperative Program funds are then disbursed as follows:
- 50.41 percent to international missions through the International Mission Board
- 22.79 percent to North American missions through the North American Mission Board
- 22.16 percent to theological education through the six SBC seminaries and the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives
- 2.99 percent to the SBC operating budget
- 1.65 percent to the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
If national CP gifts exceed the budget projection at the end of the fiscal year, the balance of the overage is distributed according to the percentages approved for budgetary distribution. The SBC Executive Committee distributes all CP and designated gifts it receives on a weekly basis to the SBC ministry entities.
[2]CP allocation budget gifts received by the Executive Committee are reported monthly to the executives of the entities of the convention, to the state convention offices, to the state Baptist papers and are posted online at sbc.net/cp.
