NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–If a picture is worth a thousand words, digital video may be worth a million.
Bringing a clear message from the heart of God is the goal of “A 40 Day Experience: EKG, The Heartbeat of God,” the newest DVD product in the 40 Day Experience resource line of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention.
“God’s passion is to reach and bring every person into His Kingdom,” said Hemphill, national strategist for Empowering Kingdom Growth (EKG) and former president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. “Yet, many Christians don’t understand that being part of God’s Kingdom means living under the rule and reign of God. God wants His people to embody, embrace and obey Him. When they do, they will grow God’s Kingdom.”
Noting that the SBC’s EKG emphasis includes a focus on how God grows the Kingdom through churches, Hemphill said, “God’s Word says that His desire is that His relationship with His people will draw others to Him too. EKG is a wakeup call to the people of God to meet Him in doing His work for His glory. The heartbeat of God is to see His children help Him love the rest of the world into His eternal Kingdom.”
Philip Jett, pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn., said his church will begin studying EKG: The Heartbeat of God the last Sunday in September.
“I’m looking forward to working through the material with my church,” Jett said. “When you have multiple services like we do, it’s important to do things that will bring the whole congregation together.”
Jett, who has been at the church for 20 years, said, “We need to re-examine the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. I think this study will be good for us.”
Each small group segment on the DVD begins with Hemphill recounting life experiences and biblical concepts of God’s love for His people. The resource also includes small group sessions, daily devotions and worship.
“EKG, The Heartbeat of God is a powerful exposition of the Empowering Kingdom Growth emphasis,” said LifeWay President James T. Draper Jr. “God empowers and works through anyone who loves and obeys Him. This message can change or refresh anyone who says, ‘I’m ready to serve my Kingdom purpose.’ Ken Hemphill inspires me with the concept that believers are God’s movable possessions, placed exactly where He wants to use us for His glory.”
