MARSHALL, Texas (BP)–East Texas Baptist University was just a pitch away from a national championship crown.
The Tigers, playing in the National Christian College Athletic Association World Series championship game Saturday night in Celina, Ohio, held a 4-3 lead over Faulkner University with two outs and a man on in the top of the seventh.
And that’s when fate struck down ETBU and senior lefthander Marty Mayfield.
