Evangelist Luis Palau profiled in WMU Hispanic magazine

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (BP)–Christian evangelist and writer Luis Palau will be profiled in the July 2004 issue of Nuestra Tarea, the premier Spanish-language missions and ministries magazine produced by national Woman’s Missionary Union.

As WMU prepares to celebrate 50 years of publishing Nuestra Tarea (translated: Our Task) in 2005, the publication has been reformatted to include more general ministry articles for the Hispanic church as well as interviews with renowned Hispanic evangelicals such as Palau.

“Because Luis Palau is so well-known and respected throughout Latin America and the United States, he was a natural choice for such an interview in the new format,” said Steve Murdock, the magazine’s design editor.

For more than four decades after arriving in America from his native Argentina, Luis Palau has followed his calling to spread the Word of God. Whether in a massive stadium or in the White House with national political and clergy leaders, Palau is consistently one of America’s most effective and compelling spiritual communicators.

From his days in the early 1960s attending seminary on the West Coast, to his own successful festival evangelism ministry that has touched audiences around the globe, Palau has inspired millions with his message of faith and hope.

“A nation will not be moved by timid methods,” says Palau, explaining why his free festivals have attracted massive crowds of young people and families of all races and denominations. “I feel that today’s generation understands music, and understands culturally relevant communication, but they don’t understand Christianity. Fifty-five percent of the United States is now considered the ‘seedless generation’; they don’t have the seeds of knowledge or the fundamentals.

“I’d love to see a massive breakthrough,” he says. “An international revival of Christianity. I’d love to see the nations truly reawaken where not just a few thousand, but millions hear the Good News and discover Christ. That is my dream.”
