[1]ALPHARETTA, Ga.(BP)–North American Mission Board president Kevin Ezell released a statement Monday announcing that he will ask his entity’s trustees to approve Larry Wynn and Aaron Coe as vice presidents.
NAMB’s trustees meet Wednesday.
Wynn is pastor of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, Ga., and if approved would become vice president of NAMB’s evangelization group. Wynn’s selection was first reported by the Christian Index, newsjournal of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
“Evangelism is not a job for Larry — it’s his lifestyle,” Ezell said in the statement. “In the 32 years he has been pastor of Hebron, the church has baptized more than 10,000 people. He has served in many leadership roles throughout our convention. Larry will work closely with state Baptist convention leaders and staff as we seek to lead and equip Southern Baptists in the area of evangelism, with a special emphasis on GPS: God’s Plan for Sharing. He understands that evangelism will be a part of everything we do.”
Coe, who would become vice president of mobilization, has served as a church planter in New York and a NAMB missionary. He has been a “leader among young Southern Baptists for many years,” Ezell said.
“Aaron’s task will be to mobilize thousands of SBC churches to engage in church planting,” Ezell said. “Fewer than 4 percent of our churches are directly connected to church planting. Our initial goal is to have 10 percent directly engaged. One of our target groups of churches are those who have disengaged from the SBC. Aaron will be working to re-engage those churches. We believe there are thousands of churches that could potentially increase their giving to the Cooperative Program or begin to give”
