FamilyNet to convey faith, values in New Orleans

FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)–Southern Baptists’ most recent contribution to rebuilding lives and families in New Orleans is the addition of faith-based cable TV programming.

The addition of FamilyNet to the Cox Cable digital lineup in Greater New Orleans “demonstrates Cox’s commitment to meeting the spiritual needs of all our New Orleans customers at a critical time in the city’s history,” said Ellen Lloyd, vice president for marketing at Cox New Orleans.

Joe McKeever, director of missions for the Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans, said FamilyNet “offers us another opportunity to reach out to people with the Good News, to strengthen families and to offer hope and encouragement to residents in our storm-ravaged region.”

FamilyNet, which can be seen in more than 30 million TV households, is owned by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The faith-based channel offers news and current events from a Christian worldview with public policy experts like Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice. FamilyNet also features music specials, classic movies and TV series, original children’s shows, documentaries and the best in Sunday worship from churches around the country. Two live daily shows originating from FamilyNet studios in Fort Worth, Texas, are “At Home-LIVE!” and “Your Health with Dr. Richard and Cindy Becker.”

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, FamilyNet also operates the Christian talk channel (159) on SIRIUS Radio. For more information, visit the FamilyNet website at www.FamilyNet.com or call 1-800-832-6638.
