FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)–“An Evening with The Martins,” a one-hour musical celebration produced and broadcast by the North American Mission Board’s FamilyNet subsidiary, has been nominated for the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards in the category of Long-Form Music Video of the Year.

Additionally, a total of 10 projects of FamilyNet, part of NAMB’s broadcast communications group, have been named finalists in the 1999 Telly Awards — a record number of Telly Awards received by FamilyNet in a single year.

“An Evening with the Martins” allows viewers to experience the trio’s unique family bond rooted in their rural southeast Arkansas upbringing. The program highlights their talents, but also is a reminder of God’s grace and power, according to FamilyNet.

“It has been a joy and a privilege to work with the Martins,” said Martin Coleman, FamilyNet executive producer. “Their talents have blessed millions of music lovers, and we trust God has used this project to touch people’s lives. We are thrilled with the success of this collaboration and honored to have it considered for a prestigious Dove Award.”

“An Evening With The Martins” was produced by David Hill of FamilyNet, directed by Steven Angus and is distributed for retail by the Spring Hill Music Group.

The Dove Awards recognizes and honors achievement and excellence in Christian music. The awards ceremony will be held April 20 in Nashville, Tenn.

The Telly Awards give recognition to outstanding non-network film and video productions. Entries are judged not against each other, but against a common standard of excellence. Approximately 14-18 percent of entries receive a “Bronze” award as a Telly “finalist,” while about 7-10 percent receive the “Silver” award as a “winner.”

The Bronze Telly finalists for 1999 include the following NAMB productions: “Valor,” a documentary about the faith of Medal of Honor recipients from World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War; the “Swan’s Place” episode featuring Larry Gatlin; “Hoop Heroes,” a documentary exploring the Christian faith of professional basketball players; “Common Ground,” a documentary spotlighting some of the many lives touched by Billy Graham and his ministry; two YouthLink 2000 promotional videos; an episode of “The Nana Puddin’ Show” titled, “Red Ribbon Carnival;” the southern gospel special, “Highest Glory: Glad A Cappella;” an episode of “The Call” titled, ‘Columbine Calling’; and animation promoting FamilyNet’s Kidtime.

FamilyNet is a national television network offering Christian programming through satellite services, cable television companies and local affiliate stations.
