Florida Baptist messengers top state-by-state totals

ORLANDO, Fla. (BP)–Florida Baptists sent the largest number of messengers, 2,006, of the 11,918 Baptists who registered for the Southern Baptist Convention’s June 13-14 annual meeting at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Other leading states were Georgia with 1,305; North Carolina, 1,170; and Tennessee, 1,037, according to unofficial figures compiled by SBC registration secretary Lee Porter from the 143rd session of the 155-year-old convention.

Last year’s final registration in Atlanta was 11,554.

The territory of Puerto Rico had 1 messenger attending.

Four states, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Vermont, had no registered messengers.
