[1]KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BP)–Bill W. Foil, vice president for institutional advancement, has announced his retirement from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, effective Aug. 1, and W. Michael Wilson has been named as Foil’s successor.
Wilson currently is a consultant/specialist in evangelism, partnerships and prayer for the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware. He has pastored churches in Arizona, Colorado and his home state, Texas. Wilson also has served as an evangelism and special projects orientation leader for the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board) and as director of evangelism for the Colorado Baptist General Convention.
Wilson is finishing an education doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He earned an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, after his undergraduate education from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas.
Foil, who came to the seminary in October 1998 to lead the capital funds campaign, was named vice president for financial affairs in October 1999. He has held his current position since March 2000.
For Foil, retirement does not mean stopping work. He will continue to do some work with the seminary as a consultant and plans to lead seminars and conferences and assist small churches in stewardship campaigns through a ministry called The EDGE. Foil, who has pastored churches in Texas, Louisiana and Kansas, will continue doing interim pastorate work. He currently serves in that capacity at First Baptist Church, Shawnee, Kan., until they find a pastor. He and his wife, Mary, will continue to live in Overland Park, Kan.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Midwestern,” Foil said. “The blessings received from the friendship with trustees, faculty, staff and students will remain in my memory for years to come. God has great plans for Midwestern and its kingdom impact.”
[2]Educated at Hardin-Simmons University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Foil was the director of planned giving at the Salvation Army’s Texas division based in Dallas before joining Midwestern’s staff.
