Fred Powell’s wife dies in Kansas City


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BP)–Donna J. Powell, 70, died Sept. 27 at a North Kansas City Hospital following a lingering illness.
Powell was the wife of Fred Powell, former chairman of the Southern Baptist Convention Committee on Order of Business and a parliamentarian for the SBC annual meeting. He is president of Communicator Ministries, Inc., and a bi-vocational pastor in Missouri.
The couple would have been married 49 years in December.
Donna Powell had been a member of the Credentials Committee of the SBC and was employed at Communicator Ministries. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Richmond, Mo.
The former Donna MacArthur, she was born in Ashland, Wis. She is survived by her husband; sons, David, Jeff and Todd, all of Richmond, Mo., and Daniel, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; daughters, Linda Battagler, Liberty, Mo., Judy Mallory, Camden, Mo., and Beth Rogers, Prairie Village, Kan; 4 sisters, 4 brothers, 12 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren.
A celebration worship service will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church, Wood Heights, Mo., Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. Visitation is Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the Pisgah church will receive memorial gifts to the “Donna Powell Memorial Fund.”
