
ATLANTA (BP)-þJoe Westbury became associate editor of
The Christian Index, newsjournal of the Georgian Baptist
Convention, on Jan. 1.
Westbury most recently was editor of adult missions
education materials for the former Southern Baptist
Convention Home Mission Board, now known as the North
American Mission Board.
Earlier in his 15 years in Baptist journalism, as
associate editor of the HMB news department and as editor of
the Brotherhood Commission’s World Mission Journal, Westbury
traveled widely covering a variety of ministries among
Southern Baptists.
Westbury, a native of Orlando, Fla., also has worked as
director of public relations at his alma mater, Union
University in Jackson, Tenn., and began his career there as
a news reporter with The Jackson Sun newspaper.
Westbury and his wife, Jan, are members of Second-Ponce
de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta and the parents of
Charlotte Su Westbury whom they adopted on a recent trip to
China. Charlotte is named for the late missionary Charlotte
Diggs “Lottie” Moon, Southern Baptist’s first missionary to
China.
