General managers in place at Ridgecrest & Glorieta

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–General managers are now in place at both LifeWay Ridgecrest and LifeWay Glorieta Conference Centers.

Bill Bowman, 48, who has been at Ridgecrest for five years, was promoted to general manager Oct. 1. Rick Tanner began his job as general manager at Glorieta Jan. 8.

National conference center director Byron Hill said, “With Rick Tanner coming on board as general manager at Glorieta Jan. 8 and Bill Bowman already on the job at Ridgecrest as general manager, we now we have our total conference center organization in place, both in the national office and the senior management positions at both conference centers.”

Bowman grew up in Georgia and earned an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering and a master’s degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He went to Ridgecrest after 17 years with the Georgia Power Company, where he was internal consultant, analyst and manager.

“Bill has done an outstanding job at Ridgecrest during his time there. This has been especially evident during this period of all the construction of Rutland Chapel and the new hotel,” Hill said.

Tanner, 37, goes to Glorieta from Las Vegas, Nev., where he worked the past seven years for Presentation Services, one of the country’s largest providers of audio-visual service to the hotel/convention industry. Most recently he was director of audio-visual services for the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas. During Tanner’s time with Presentation Services, he also worked with the Orchid Resort in Hawaii. Before that he worked with convention services at the Ritz Carlton, Aspen, Colo.

“As a result of working in these large, 4-star convention hotels, Rick has an excellent understanding of the level of service needed to take Glorieta to the next level,” Hill said.

A Louisiana native, Tanner attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La.

Tanner was employed at Glorieta from 1992-93 in conference support and audio/visual. “Returning to Glorieta is exciting,” Tanner said. “I’m looking forward to going back to work at the conference center.”
