[1]LONDON (BP)–The highest court in Germany has given the go-ahead for same-sex couples to exchange marriage-like vows at local government offices and require court decisions for “divorces,” CNSNews.com reported July 18.
The Federal Constitutional Court turned down an appeal by two of Germany’s states, Saxony and Bavaria, which had argued that a law planned to take effect next month contravened constitutional provisions protecting marriage and the family.
Last March, the Netherlands became the first country to legally recognize homosexual and lesbian relationships as “marriages.”
