GGBTS: Classes launched in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (BP)–Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary is offering two eight-week classes in Las Vegas during the spring semester.

The classes are Foundations for Ministry with Gary McCoy and Basic Evangelism with Jim Wilson, both professors at the Mill Valley, Calif.-based seminary.

“Golden Gate Seminary is delighted to come to Las Vegas to offer seminary training,” Jeff Iorg, Golden Gate’s president, said. “Our goal is to provide contextualized seminary training in the West so that we can participate in the process of shaping leaders for Kingdom work around the world.”

Noting that the seminary regularly assesses the ministry and educational needs of the churches in the West, Iorg said, “As a result, we periodically offer a limited number of courses in a location to judge the level of student interest and church support. In this case, we are teaching in Las Vegas at the invitation of the state convention and association. We are creating a teaching site there in response to their request, but it is not a new campus.”

Both classes are being taught on Monday evenings from 6:30-9:30 in the Southern Nevada Baptist Association Building in Las Vegas. Tuition cost for Southern Baptist students is $185 per credit hour, and tuition for non-Southern Baptist students is $350 per credit hour.

“The teaching site in Las Vegas is a great opportunity for the Southern Nevada Baptist Association and Golden Gate Seminary to work together to provide training for leaders in Nevada,” said Reggie Thomas, director of the Las Vegas teaching site and the Southern California Campus of Golden Gate.

“We are pleased to be able to provide a solid theological foundation and help students develop practical ministry skills in order to meet the challenges of ministry in a changing world,” Thomas said.
