GGBTS ‘eLearning’ campus to offer master’s courses

[1]

MILL VALLEY, Calif. (BP)–Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary will offer graduate-level seminary courses online starting this fall.

The first two courses to be offered will be Christian history and Baptist history. By the fall of 2007, the seminary is projecting the opening of an “eLearning” campus through which two-thirds of a master’s degree can be earned without the need to attend classes in a traditional campus setting.

“This is the next step in our commitment to provide leaders with theological education in the churches of the West,” seminary President Jeff Iorg said. “With our network of campuses across the West and this new online option, those called to lead in ministry can have access to seminary education regardless of where they live.”

The eLearning courses are fully accredited and can be applied to any master’s program at Golden Gate, such as master of divinity, master of theological studies or master of arts in educational leadership degrees.

“This is an exciting delivery method and the accessibility is amazing,” said Rick Durst, the faculty member heading the program. “We have had prospective students from Ohio, Italy and China already ask for information.”

To apply go to www.elearnportal.com and click on “Masters Programs”; then click “Golden Gate” and submit the form. The admissions deadline for this fall is July 15, with the registration deadline for classes July 26. For questions concerning the online courses, call 1- 888-442-8701 or e-mail [email protected].
