[1]SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (BP)–Mark McClellan, director of the Arizona Campus of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, has resigned from that administrative role to become a full time faculty member at the campus. Upon becoming director in 2000, McClellan led the campus to hire its first full time faculty members and to receive accreditation to offer the full master of divinity and master of theological studies degrees on site.
“At this time in my life, I realized that the classroom is my first love and I long to work with Golden Gate and Arizona Southern Baptists to train the next generation of leaders for the churches,” McClellan said.
Established in 1995, the Arizona Campus currently enrolls about 50 students. McClellan relocated the campus from leased facilities to the new permanent campus shared with the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention in Scottsdale. A search for a new director has begun with McClellan agreeing to continue to serve as director until the new director is in place.
William O. Crews, president of Golden Gate Seminary, praised McClellan’s achievements.
“Mark has built a fine teaching team at our Arizona campus and will prove instrumental in his new faculty role, particularly in the area of enlisting Hispanic students into theological education,” Crews said.
Golden Gate Seminary is a Cooperative Program ministry of the Southern Baptist Convention and operates five campuses in Northern California, Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona and Colorado.
