Hemphill to host seminary luncheon, concluding 9 years as president

PHOENIX (BP)–Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s National Alumni Luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. June 18 in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Pheonix.

Southwestern President Kenneth S. Hemphill, who recently announced his retirement from the Fort Worth, Texas, seminary, will present the seminary’s 2003 distinguished alumni awards and the seminary’s annual report.

Hemphill, who has led Southwestern since 1994, has been named as the national strategist for the Southern Baptist Convention’s Empowering Kingdom Growth initiative.

The luncheon, held yearly in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting, will be in the Hyatt’s Regency Ballroom sections C/D.

Alumni and friends of the seminary may purchase tickets for $17.50 per person before June 1 by writing to Southwestern’s Alumni Relations Office at P.O. Box 22480, Fort Worth, Texas 76122-0480. Tickets may be purchased at the convention for $20 per person. Children are welcome to attend the luncheon, but they must have a ticket. Checks should be made payable to Southwestern Seminary.
