Hispanic Baptist fellowship to inaugurate youth meeting


ORLANDO, Fla. (BP)–The National Fellowship of Hispanic Baptist Churches (Confraternidad Nacional de Iglesias Hispanas Bautistas del Sur) will hold its XIII Annual Assembly June 10-11 — including a first-ever “national reunion of Baptist youth” and the launch of an official Internet network for Hispanic Baptist churches.

The theme of this year’s assembly, hosted by Parkway Baptist Church, Orlando, Fla., will be “Hispanic Baptists Radiating Light in the New Millennium.”

Various sessions of the fellowship will be broadcast live over the Internet at www.interwebcall.com.

On Saturday, June 10, beginning at 9 a.m., fellowship attendees will participate in Crossover Orlando evangelistic activities.

The youth meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m. June 10, along with a reunion of presidents of state Hispanic fellowships and directors of ethnic missions and an ethnic mission fair in cooperation with the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board and the Orlando Baptist Association.

That night, and Sunday night, June 11, beginning at 7 p.m., the fellowship will hold its worship celebrations. Among the featured speakers will be Bob Sena, NAMB national missionary, and Francisco Nunez, vice president of International Crusades. Featured musicians will include Danny Driggs, Miguel A. Guerra, Duo Legado, Moises Hernandez and a united chorale of Florida Hispanic Baptists.

Twenty-five conferences on a range of topics will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday featuring such speakers at Daniel Sanchez, Alberto Prokopchuk, Geriel de Oliveira, Marcos A. Ramos and Moises Rodriguez. Activities for children of all ages also will be provided.

Also on Sunday afternoon, the fellowship will launch its Internet “Church Network” for Hispanic churches, which will provide a website page for each participating congregation at www.cnihb.com.

The fellowship’s business meeting, which will include the election of new members of the board, will be at 5 p.m. Sunday. The organization’s current president if Heberto Becerra, pastor of First Hispanic Baptist Church, Plantation, Fla.
