Home Mission Board offers Web page for US-2 applicants

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)–As a mid-February deadline approaches for US-2 missionary applications, information and applications are available on-line. By accessing www.nambsbc.org on the World Wide Web, candidates can complete the application on-line, or download the file and send in their information via the Internet at a later time.

“This will be much faster for the applicants,” said Judy Smith, personnel specialist with the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board missionary personnel department. “Along with the application, candidates will be able to see available positions.”

The new web site coincides with a second opportunity for applicants to be considered for the 1997 class of US-2ers. A group interview will be held in Atlanta Jan. 31-Feb. 2. “We still have positions available,” Smith said. “In the past we have only offered one opportunity to apply. This year, we are extending the application process.”

US-2 missionaries are college graduates age 30 or younger at the time of application who serve two years under appointment with the Home Mission Board and selected state conventions. Areas of service include church and community ministries, church starting, language missions, resort ministries, evangelism and international/seafarers ministries.

Completed application material for the second opportunity must be received by the HMB missionary personnel department no later than Feb. 18. A group interview session for selected applicants will be in Atlanta, April 11-13. For candidates who do not have access to the Internet, they may call the missionary personnel department at (770) 410-6175.
