In men’s ministry, black pastor gave up a little, gained a lot

[1]

RIDGECREST, N.C. (BP)–Fred Luter said he gave up a little but gained a lot when his church committed to men’s ministry.

Luter, pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, spoke about men’s ministry during Black Leadership Week at LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Center.

He gave up:

— Ego

— Selfishness

— Insecurities

[2]

He gained:

— Men who become “FAT” (Faithful, Available and Teachable)

— Men who become priests in their homes

— Male leadership throughout the ministries of the church

— Men winning other men to Christ

— Men leading in stewardship

— Men who become role models and mentors for youth

— Men who lighten the load of the pastor

— Men who hold each other accountable

— Men of purpose and prayer

— Men who will “watch the pastor’s back”

Luter spoke about a joy in discipling and developing men.

“To see men literally go through a spiritual transformation from lost sinners to dedicated, committed singles, husbands, fathers and church leaders is something that every pastor and congregation should experience,” Luter said. “I promise you, you will gain more than you give up!”
