Information released on how to help Ala. tornado victims

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (BP)–Individuals wishing to assist victims of the tornadoes that hit Tuscaloosa on Dec. 16 may do so in a variety of ways, according to city officials:

— To find out about injured relatives who may be at the hospital, call DCH Regional Medical Center at 759-7111, Room 101.

— Contributions to assist tornado victims can be made to:
— The Salvation Army of West Alabama is accepting donations at P.O. Box 2470 Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35403

The Salvation Army also needs a large storage warehouse, canned goods, new toys, blankets, towels, bottled water, coffee, can drinks. For more information, call 758-2804 or go to 2902 Greensboro Ave.

The American Red Cross is also accepting donations. Checks should be mailed to 1100 15th St. E., Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35404.

The Red Cross is urging people to donate blood to help tornado victims. Platelet donations are also needed. The collection center in Professional Plaza, 600 Paul Bryant Drive, will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. this week. For more information, call 391-4859.
