LYNCHBURG, Va. (BP)–Liberty University’s school of law has entered into a partnership with Liberty Counsel, a national public interest law firm specializing in religious liberty litigation, to establish a Center for Constitutional Litigation and Policy on the Lynchburg, Va., campus.

Bruce Green, dean of Liberty’s law school, said additional associations “with other likeminded constitutional litigation groups” likely will be established “toward the goal of training future civil liberties attorneys and furthering religious freedom in America.”

The center will train law students in all aspects of constitutional litigation, with a particular emphasis on the defense of religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and traditional family values. The center also will offer continuing legal education training to attorneys throughout the country.

Mathew Staver, president and general counsel of the Orlando-based Liberty Counsel, noted, “Uniting the academic resources of Liberty University school of law with the real-life opportunities offered by Liberty Counsel in religious liberty litigation and pro-family policy will make the partnership between the two unique in America and will result in a powerful force dedicated to the mission of renewing the American legal culture.”

Liberty Counsel will establish an office in Lynchburg to work in conjunction with the center.
