LifeWay names director for capital resources development

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Gary McCauley has been hired as director of the capital resources development department for LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. He will begin work in July.

In his new position, McCauley, 48, will lead the department to research, plan, design, recommend and implement a comprehensive program for obtaining major philanthropic gifts for LifeWay projects, said Mike Arrington, vice president of LifeWay’s corporate affairs division.

Presently McCauley is senior vice president of development at Ligonier Ministries in Lake Mary, Fla.

Describing himself as an “encourager,” McCauley said he will immediately begin working on putting together a staff. “I want to find the best people I can to come in and work with me. Then, I’ll see that they have the skills and training they need to do their jobs.”

He said he will work on correcting a misunderstanding held by those who assume LifeWay receives Cooperative Program funds. LifeWay never has received funds from the Southern Baptist Convention; rather, it gives millions of dollars to Southern Baptist state conventions and causes.

“People need to be aware of that,” McCauley said.

Arrington said, “We’re excited to have Gary coming to lead our capital fundraising efforts as we seek to support expanded ministry opportunities including the revitalization of our national conference centers and other projects. His background and experience have prepared him well for his new position with LifeWay. I look forward to seeing how God will use him to advance our fundraising efforts.”

McCauley and his wife, Paige, are members of Central Baptist Church in Sanford, Fla. They have two sons, Jason, 24, and Matthew, 22.
