NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–LifeWay Christian Stores around the nation will host an Operation Christmas Child shoe box collection day on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Customers may drop off Operation Christmas Child shoe box donations at their local LifeWay store.
Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief and evangelism organization led by Franklin Graham, began Operation Christmas Child in 1993. Through the program, donated shoe boxes filled with gifts and toys are distributed to children in desperate situations around the world. Children also receive a Gospel booklet written in their native language.
“LifeWay is excited to work with the community to support Operation Christmas Child,” said Mark Scott, vice president of LifeWay Christian Stores, a division of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. “Samaritan’s Purse is sharing the Gospel with children all around the world. Providing this service to people in the communities where we have stores is one way LifeWay seeks to fulfill its vision of providing biblical solutions that spiritually transform individuals and cultures.”
Customers may obtain an official Operation Christmas Child shoe box or shoe box packing instructions at local LifeWay Christian Stores. Operation Christmas Child prefers customers use plastic boxes with snug lids so that boxes may be reused by the children and families receiving them. To cover shipping expenses, a $7 per shoe box donation is suggested.
