Lois Keeling Draper dies; mother of BSSB president


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Lois Keeling Draper, mother of Sunday School Board President James T. Draper Jr., died Oct. 28 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn. She was 85.
She was the daughter of a Southern Baptist pastor, the wife of a Southern Baptist pastor and the mother of Southern Baptist pastors.
Her father was L.M. Keeling, who served as a pastor for 54 years. Her husband, James T. Draper Sr., was a preacher for 36 years and a director of missions for six years until his death in 1966.
One son, George Draper, died in 1989, and her youngest son, Charles Draper, now teaches at North Greenville College in Tigerville, S.C.
Since her husband’s death, Draper had made her home with her eldest son, James, a pastor for 35 years before becoming president of the Sunday School Board in 1991.
She also has seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at Frazer Funeral Home, Warren, Ark., with burial to follow. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Euless, Texas.
